FAQs

Longevity

How long do they last?

Tooth gems are considered semi-permanent and can last between two month to over a year.

Longevity is dependent on many factors such as the gem size, the placement, and your aftercare . The first 24-48 hours are critical, so be gentle!

Gems and charms are pretty damn resilient, but the more care we take the longer they can last. Small crystals (ss3, ss5 and ss7) have greater longevity than larger, chunkier gems (hearts, butterfly wings)

Is it safe?

Yes, the application and wear of gems are safe. We only use dental-grade material and the process is completely non-invasive. NO DRILLING & NO PAIN.

Make sure you maintain good oral hygiene. Continue to brush your teeth and floss regularly.

Get your teeth cleaned at the dentist every 6 months to avoid buildup around gems..

Safety

Umm, but how do they stay on?

Adhesion

Tooth gems and charms are bonded onto the tooth with professional dental materials and equipment.

It is the same adhesive used for braces! (it does not damage teeth).

Does getting a gem hurt?

Painless tooth gems

Not at all! The process is completely pain-free and non-invasive. We do not use any drilling. We can promise a comfy seat, good tunes. and a chill experience.

What's the removal process?

Removal

Gems and charms must be removed by a dentist to ensure easy and safe removal. You can ask them to remove any gems during a regular tooth clean for you.

FYI, polishing off gems as a standalone service at the dentist can cost about $40 per tooth (depending on individual the dental practice pricing)

What kind of crystals do you use?

Crystals used

We only use high quality crystals from trusted dealers. This guarantees they are 100% authentic, lead-free crystals and lab grown opals. We also offer solid 18ct yellow and white gold charms and VVS diamonds. All non-toxic and safe.

We do not use any silver charms. Silver is a much less stable metal than gold. It is fragile, softer, and much less durable. Safety and quality are our priorities for our hunnies.

Dentist clean

Can I still get my teeth cleaned at the dentist?

Yes. You can definitely still undergo a dental cleaning to prevent any build up of plaque. A dentist can easily clean around the gem. Woohoo!

Appointment length

How long is an appointment?

A typical single and double gem appointment will take about 20-30 minutes for the entire session (multiple gems take longer). We start all appointments with a consultation to decide the design, placement and smile goals. It’s important for us to understand your natural smile and bite for best positioning. Once all questions are answered we move onto application.

Aftercare

What's the aftercare?

We provide you with an aftercare guide following your appointment so you can get the best longevity from your gems. But generally, you should:

  • Avoid eating for the first 2 hours to allow the adhesive to fully cure

  • Refrain from touching or playing with the gem, especially in the first 48 hours

  • Do not brush your teeth for 12 hours after the gem is applied

  • Avoid sticky and hard foods in the initial days to prevent pulling on the gem

  • Limit consumption of staining and acidic substances like alcohol for the first 24-48 hours to protect the adhesive

Drinking alcohol after a gem

Can I drink alcohol immediately after getting my gem?

God news- Yes! We will not get in the way of you and your spicy margarita.

While alcohol and soft drinks do not compromise the hardening of the resin, be aware that over time acidic drinks do wear away the bond quicker. Drink acidic bevs with a straw when possible to lessen this.
